Subcribed over a month ago to Chrunchyroll hoping to spend less on dvd's/ blu-rays & be able to catch current show & support the creators. I didn't care for their past of making money off fansubs but it was too good a deal to pass up at $50 for a whole year. 720p quality is decent on my lowly 3mb connection though openings for some reason stutter watching on PC. Using the PS3 app is much smoother without the annoying overlays (fade in/out logo, username stream message at start) of the PC stream though you do get a dropdown timer bar/episode name at the start on the PS3. Already watched all of Sword Art Online, Btooom, & Bodacious Space Pirates, & currently watching Girl Und Panzer, The Idolm@ster, & Natsu no Arashi (love the char design for the main girl in this).

Miku on the BBC

I listen to the BBC World Service almost daily & just heard Hatsune Miku get a short discussion on their weekly tech program "Click." You can listen to the program at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00xf984. The Miku part can be heard about 8 minutes into the broadcast.
I read that the camera in the Vita is so bad because it was made to optimized augmented reality recognition. They should've put in a 2nd better quality camera. Here is Rin at a nice spot in Chicago's Lincoln Park.

Blu-ray/CD set of the two Vocaloid Miku concerts this year in Japan, Project Diva f the first Miku game for the the PS Vita, & a figure of Megurine Luka based on a Tony illustration. The record sized blu-ray set came with the green reuseable bag that smells like sweet wheat crackers. I originally got a PSP because of the Project Diva games & now a Vita for the same reasons. This version from Amiami in addition to the a printed screen protector included an Amiami exclusive keychain & illustration card. There was also a Vita + game LE, but the it was at least $500 which I didn't want to spend so I found this used 3g Vita w/8gb memory card for $162 on Amazon.
Anime for August Freezing blu-ray/dvd set full of service ala Queens Blade & including an mini artbook extra from Rightstuf. Also the 2nd season of The World God Only Knows.

Junky x Kagamine Rin/rink - Junky X Kagamine Rin THE BEST -, Exit Tunes Presents Megurhythm Feat. Megurine Luka, & the Pany & Stocking with Garbelt OST 1. Megurhythm comes with some extras such a rubber keychain, a mini mouse pad, a 1st press poster of the album cover image, & I think a mail in extra for a clear file folder.

Otakon 2012 Haul

Got a con t-shirt, an Imari Bible Black figure for $25, a Madoka Mami figure for $136, & the LE of Madoka Vol. 2. The Imari figure was a really good deal from Media Blasters booth & Mami I overpayed a bit for, but I missed preordering her so now hard to find online & on Ebay goes for over $160. She'll probably get rereleased at some point. For Madoka Vol. 2 I already had the regular edition, but double dipped at the Aniplex booth for the nice box with Mami, a promotional poster(which unfortunately got damaged on my trip home because I didn't have a poster tube), & for a chance to get another Ai Nonaka's autograph.
Autograph gotten at Otakon. Yuuka Nanri on her Madlax ed theme single, Ai Nonaka for Madoka Vol. 2 LE booklet & Natsu no Arashi! ed theme single (to complement Kaori Nazuka's autograph on there from a previous con), & one I didn't think I'd manage Aya Hirano for her role as Kaoru on the Zettai Karen Children Vol. 1 dvd. Was debating whether to have something Haruhi related signed, but I figure she gets enough of that & I also enjoyed her role on Zettai Karen Children. Pictures can be restricted with some guests especially Japanese ones; thankfully for Ai Nonaka pictures of her but not with her were ok.

I don't recall ever having a package lost from Amiami, but it has been 6 weeks now & an order for a Panty figure has yet to arrive... I used the least expensive SAL shipping so really no recourse. Just really annoyed that it's basically $100 lost.

The calm before the storm 11pm Day 0. I go to conventions for the guests & haven't been back to Otakon since 2009, but had to make it for Ai Nonaka, Aya Hirano, & Yuuka Nanri. As usual you get choice of badge images & I went for the obvious one.
Flew into DCA to save money since BWI was over $100 more expensive & took the metro subway & then MARC commuter train to Camden station right across from the convention center. Missed getting a seat on the full MARC & also ten minutes into the ride the power went out so ended up going the remainder of the hour long ride with no air conditioning with temps in the 90's. But made it here fine otherwise & thankful for the fast pre-reg pickup which took maybe 20 minutes total. If only my local con Anime Central could get this process right...

Strike Witches

My first Strike Witches figure & I chose Mio. Her mechanical legs seem to be made of hard plastic & then pressed onto a stainless steel square bar attached to the base. Hopefully this keeps her from ever falling over. Also just in time for what was suppose to be the blu-ray release of Strike Witches 2 from Funimation but which is now pushed back likely because the Japanese release is coming soon too. The Japanese version is over $400 vs around $40 for the US version so they're probably worried about reverse importation.

Nicely packaged "B gata H kei" Blu-ray/DVD combo set from Funimation. The mousepad is an extra from Rightstuf. Never previewed the show when it aired so a bit of a blind buy but glad I got it. It's a fun quirky show with a very catchy op/ed.
Recently switched phones to an unlocked HTC Incredible S. It's got a amusing(to a Japanese) way of saying that I'm on 4g.
Here's a bit of another tie-in to the release of B gata H kei. I find it hard to believe that 1/3 of the young men there aren't interested in sex. More likely they're waiting for Chobits. Oh & nice how they get the anime tie-in to the story. Asuza ftw!

Ah the memories...
Miku, Rin, Luka, & Ren live in concert last year at Anime Expo. Doesn't look like it will get a less expensive domestic US release so just bit the bullet & imported the blu-ray from Amazon Japan. Still came with 1st print postcards. Behind the disc is a foam seat cushion that they gave away after the concert.

Had this on DVD for the longest time, but never watched beyond episode 18. Double dipped on the Blu-ray of season 1 to get back into the show & now am almost through the 2nd season on DVD. This is another emotional wrenching Visual Arts/Key series.

Rina with an Colt M4A1 & Alna dual wielding Glock G17's.
The M4($20) is a plastic model kit by Trumpeter & the G17's($13/each) were finished assembled models from Dragon Models. Both are 1/3 scale making them a perfect fit for Dollfie Dreams. Unfortunately the 1/3 scale plastic arms selection is limited though there are more if you get into metal diecast ones but then they aren't very ideal for these dolls due to weight.
Alna's New Dress

My Alna finally gets an a new outfit. Released recently by Volks the gothic lolita style dress is called "Intrigue Rose Dress" & she costs almost $150 with shipping! I really wanted a new outfit for Alna though since Rina there already has two extra. For the price it is nicely made with velvet type burgandy fabric & extra little details such as the metal rose on her choker. The shoes don't match since they are from Rina's idol outfit, but I didn't want to spend money for a more matching pair yet. I'm a fan of the gothic lolita look & Alna does it quite well.
